Mexico 2012 auto parts production reached the $73 billion dollars, a record in Mexican industry.

Mexico is world’s fifth auto parts producer with 40 billion in exports out of $73 billion total production.

Mexico’s production is above Korea and below China (with $200 billion).

Coahuila Mexico bears the first place in Mexico production of car transmissions (considered a part). Coahuila has two OEM motor manufacturers Chrysler and GM.

Second place manufacturer of auto parts is Nuevo Leon with two heavy truck assembly OEMs. Mexican imports of auto parts is still large reaching$30 billion due to the lack of reliable manufacturers of auto part components.

As an instance, Mexico has only five manufacturers of Car Lights but all component parts are imported. Fabric and leather utilized in U. S. car upholstery are cut and sewed in Mexico but raw materials are imported mainly from South Africa and Argentina.
